I am a photographer based in far Northern California near the Oregon border. I first purchased a camera (35mm film) when I graduated from high school. Considering I had already joined the Army, my original goal was to document my experiences and travels while in the Army.
I kept the camera for several years, but work often interfered with any photographic desires. Years later, I purchased a digital camera when they started to come into the market. Still having no formal training in photography, I continued taking pictures to document travels and the raising of my family. I even upgraded the camera to a newer DSLR but still did not learn how to explore out of the ‘auto’ mode.
Finally, after retirement, I wanted to step up once again. However this time, I told myself I needed to really learn how the camera works and what I needed to do to finally start to improve from pictures to photographs. Thanks to the wonders of the Internet, I found many training resources available. I started to read and watch training and how-to videos on photography. I still feel there is so much more to learn, but I am enjoying the journey and the results.
I decided to start this blog so I could share some of this journey. There is so much more information behind the photo that I wanted to share. Maybe how it was created or just what inspired me to take the photograph. Either way, I hope you enjoy them.
